Terms, for hiring
Last updated September 17, 2026
These cover Larpy for hiring: screening candidates for your own roles. If you are practising interviews on your own account, the practice terms are the ones that apply to you.
1What the service does
You write a role, its questions and the criteria you are screening on. We interview your candidates against exactly that, out loud, and hand you a verdict with the sentences from their own answers that produced it. On a coding role we also run the code they wrote and report what it actually did.
It is a screen, not a decision. Larpy can move a candidate forward when they clear a bar you set. It cannot reject anyone: every other outcome is a recommendation that waits for a person. That is a property of the system, not a setting, and it does not have an off switch.
2What you are responsible for
Telling candidates they will be interviewed by an automated system, where the law requires it, and having a lawful basis to screen them. We give you the tools: the candidate-facing page discloses what the interview is, what is recorded, and who sees it, before they agree to anything.
And having the bias audit your jurisdiction requires. New York City requires an independent one, within the previous year, published, before an automated screen may be used. We produce the figures an auditor needs, per role, from voluntary candidate self-identification. We do not perform the audit and we do not certify the tool, because a vendor auditing itself is not an audit.
You are also responsible for what you write into a role. We refuse criteria that turn on a protected characteristic, in code, but a refused criterion is not legal advice and clearing our filter is not a finding that your rubric is lawful.
3Who owns what
Your candidates’ interviews are yours. The recordings, transcripts, evaluations and code belong to you, we hold them on your behalf as your processor, and you can export or delete them at any time. We do not sell them, we do not share them with other customers, and we do not use them to train models.
The product itself, including the interviewer, the scoring, and everything we build from operating it in aggregate and anonymously, stays ours.
A candidate also keeps their own copy of their own interview and, where the employer sends it, their own feedback. That is not a concession we can be talked out of: somebody who gives up an hour to be assessed gets to see how it went, whatever you decide.
4How long we keep it
Recordings are deleted after 90 days and transcripts and evaluations after 12 months, automatically. Both are ceilings: you or the candidate can delete sooner. The detail, including what happens when you leave, is in the data processing agreement.
5Fair use of the service
Use it to screen candidates for your own open roles. Not to build a candidate database, not to interview people for a role that does not exist, not to resell screens to another company as your own, and not to feed the interviewer instructions aimed at a candidate rather than at their answers.
Volume is whatever your plan says, and going over it is a bill rather than a block: we will not stop a screen a candidate has already started because a counter rolled over.
6What we promise, and what we do not
We will keep the service running, tell you promptly when something goes wrong that affects your candidates, and hold to the security and retention commitments in the DPA.
We do not promise the verdicts are right. It is an assessment produced by a model, every score rests on quotes you can read, and the reason nothing is rejected automatically is precisely that we expect to be wrong sometimes. Your usage page shows how often a person overruled us in the direction that would have cost them a candidate, because that is the number that matters and you should be watching it.
We do not currently hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
7Ending it
Either of us can end this with notice. Prepaid volume you have not used is refunded pro rata. On request we delete every candidate record we hold for you, or return it first, and the deletion is a single operation rather than a manual sweep.
We may suspend an account immediately where it is being used to screen people unlawfully or to harm candidates. That is the only case, and we will tell you why.
8Changes
We will tell employers using the product before these change materially, and update the date above. Questions, or a request to paper this differently: hello@getlarpy.com.
